
Beirut, May 28: Israeli airstrikes in Deir Ammar, Southern Lebanon, have resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals, with one more injured, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency. These strikes were part of ongoing Israeli operations in the region.
The Lebanese Civil Defense Department reported that rescue teams successfully evacuated 29 civilians trapped in buildings damaged by the airstrikes.
The Israeli military has issued warnings for residents in Nabatiyeh to evacuate the area. Similar alerts were also sent to the towns of Kafrhunah, Aramta, Mlita, Jarjua, and Houmine al-Fawqa.
In response, Hezbollah claimed that its fighters targeted Israeli military positions in the Jawtar al-Sharkiya area. The group asserted that they launched a drone attack on an Israeli Merkava tank near Bustan Jattam. Additionally, rockets were fired at Israeli soldiers and vehicles near Talat al-Khajjan and the local river.
Hezbollah also reported engaging in direct combat with Israeli troops near the Scout Complex in Jawtar al-Sharkiya, utilizing light and medium weapons, which forced the Israeli soldiers to retreat. Following this, the Israeli military conducted heavy bombardments in the area.
Moreover, Israeli fighter jets targeted a building in the Mashrua al-Rouj area at the entrance of Abbasieh, north of the coastal city of Tyre, completely destroying it. Airstrikes were also carried out on the Tyre area and the Rashidiyeh Palestinian refugee camp located south of the city.
According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, the death toll from Israeli attacks has risen to 3,269 since March 2, with 9,840 individuals injured as of May 27.
In a related incident, the Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that an Israeli airstrike on a house in central Gaza City on Wednesday evening resulted in the deaths of at least seven Palestinians, with 18 others injured. The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted two senior Hamas leaders.
