Chennai, May 5: The worlds of politics and cinema in Tamil Nadu have always been intertwined. Recently, actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party, Tamilga Vetria Kazhagam (TVK), have been making headlines following a significant victory in the recent assembly elections. Meanwhile, an old clip has gone viral on social media.
This viral video was posted by actor and music director Premgi Amaren on his X timeline. In the clip, he and Vijay are seen sitting in a car, engaging in a humorous conversation. A notable aspect of the clip is the car’s license plate, which reads ‘TN 07 CM 2026’. This license plate has sparked considerable discussion among viewers.
The video is actually a scene from the film ‘GOT’ (Greatest of All Time), directed by Venkat Prabhu. Released in 2024, the film received a positive response from audiences. The scene features light-hearted comedy and dialogue between Vijay and Premgi, but it has now gained attention due to its connection with real political events.
While posting the video, Premgi Amaren humorously remarked, “Venkat Prabhu had already thought of this.” Reactions to this post have varied widely across social media.
Director Venkat Prabhu responded to the post with a laughter emoji, adding to the light-hearted nature of the discussion.
The film ‘GOT’ was a box office success upon its release in 2024.
On the political front, TVK made its electoral debut and has gained a lead in several seats during the assembly elections, causing a stir in political circles.
The Tamil Nadu assembly has a total of 234 seats, with a majority of 118 seats required to form a government. Currently, Vijay’s party is leading in 108 seats, just 10 seats shy of a majority. Notably, Vijay has won from two different constituencies, Perambur and Tiruchi East, but according to regulations, he must vacate one of these seats.
