Rewari, August 6: The Haryana Vigilance Team has taken significant action against corruption by arresting a Patwari in the Kosli Tehsil while accepting a bribe of ₹4,000 on Thursday. The accused was demanding the bribe from the complainant under the pretext of improving revenue records.
According to reports, the Patwari had already received ₹5,000 from the complainant prior to this incident. Despite this, he requested an additional ₹4,000 to complete the work. Frustrated, the complainant lodged a complaint with the Haryana Vigilance Bureau.
After verifying the complaint, the Vigilance Team set up a trap. As soon as the Patwari accepted the ₹4,000 bribe from the complainant, the team apprehended him on the spot. The Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act. An investigation is also underway to determine if the accused has extorted bribes from others in a similar manner.
This action by the Haryana Vigilance Team is seen as a strong message against corruption. The team has urged the public to report any instances of bribery by government officials or employees to the Vigilance Department, ensuring strict legal action against the offenders.
In a related incident, another government employee was arrested in Bihar on Wednesday for accepting a bribe of ₹15,000. The Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau apprehended a Panchayat Secretary in West Champaran for demanding bribes in exchange for payments related to development work.
The Bureau’s team conducted a trap operation following prior verification, leading to the arrest of Shankar Prasad, the Panchayat Secretary of Dumaria, Block-Narkatiaganj, West Champaran, while he was accepting the bribe.
