Vande Mataram: A Symbol of Indias Identity and Strength, Says Jammu and Kashmirs Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha

Jammu, March 30: Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, emphasized that “Vande Mataram” embodies the nation’s identity, strength, and commitment.

He stated that “Vande Mataram” is not just a verse but a profound experience embedded in our civilization. The singing of this anthem and related events serve to honor the memories of our martyrs, respect their sacrifices, and renew our commitment to India’s glory.

Sinha called upon every segment of society to share the dream of making India the greatest nation in the world. He stressed the need for unity to realize this vision. “When every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir dedicates themselves to building a developed India, I believe this collective spirit will become an invincible force,” he remarked.

The Lieutenant Governor spoke at a special closing ceremony held at the Innovative Theatre in Jammu, commemorating the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram.” This event took place from March 23 to March 30, 2026, to celebrate Martyrs’ Day and pay tribute to the great martyrs whose indomitable sacrifices paved the way for India’s freedom.

He highlighted that the reverence and enthusiasm for “Vande Mataram” in Jammu and Kashmir symbolize the region’s adoption of ideals that have helped it move past painful chapters of history over the last five to six years.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sinha noted that Jammu and Kashmir has integrated into the national mainstream, setting new benchmarks in development and showcasing deep patriotism through significant events like “Vande Mataram” and “Har Ghar Tiranga.”

The earlier phases of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” showcased Jammu and Kashmir’s outstanding contributions to the nation. In the first phase (November 7-14, 2025), nine out of the top ten performing districts in India were from Jammu and Kashmir, with Kishtwar securing the top position. In the second phase (January 19-26, 2026), six districts from the region participated, with Poonch leading the way.

Sinha remarked that the massive participation of people in the last two phases and their embrace of the values of “Vande Mataram” indicate a transformative power for the future. He expressed his firm belief that the greatest strength of any region lies in its ability to envision its future. “In Jammu and Kashmir, I see that potential flourishing. It is essential to spread the message that true patriotism is the foundation of peace and progress.”
