Patna, April 1: In a swift response to the tragic stampede at the Sheetala Mata Temple in Nalanda district, police have arrested four priests and filed a case against 40 individuals.
The incident resulted in the deaths of nine devotees, with several others injured. The stampede occurred in Madhada village, located in the Dipnagar police station area, prompting immediate action from local authorities.
Given the seriousness of the situation, a detailed investigation has been launched. An FIR has been registered against 20 named individuals and 20 unidentified persons at the Dipnagar police station.
Initial investigations suggest that negligence and poor crowd management were the primary causes of the disaster. Police and administrative teams are actively pursuing leads to apprehend additional suspects.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a compensation of 600,000 rupees for the families of the deceased. Additionally, the central government has pledged 200,000 rupees to the families of the deceased and 50,000 rupees to the injured.
