Dambulla, June 21: The final match of the Tri-Series between India A and Sri Lanka A is taking place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. Vaibhav Suryaanshi delivered an explosive performance, scoring 94 runs off just 29 balls. He reached his half-century in a mere 11 balls, setting a new world record in List A cricket.
Vaibhav now holds the record for the fastest half-century in List A cricket. During his innings, he maintained a staggering strike rate of 324, hitting 10 fours and 8 towering sixes. He broke the previous record held by Kaushalya Weeraratne, who scored a half-century in 12 balls back in the 2005-06 season. Additionally, Vaibhav surpassed the Indian record for the fastest half-century in List A cricket, previously held by Sarfaraz Khan, who achieved it in 15 balls during the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Although Vaibhav fell short of a century, he provided a blistering start for the Indian team in the final. He partnered with Priyansh Arya to amass 132 runs for the first wicket in just 8.5 overs. Thanks to Vaibhav’s explosive innings, the Indian team crossed the 100-run mark in just 6.3 overs. The Sri Lankan bowlers appeared completely helpless against the 15-year-old batsman, who had struggled for runs throughout the Tri-Series but made a significant impact in the final.
In the second over of his innings, Vaibhav showcased his aggressive style against Sri Lankan bowler Shiraz, scoring 26 runs with three sixes and two fours. Having played 12 List A matches so far, Vaibhav has shown remarkable performance since his debut in 2024. He has also scored a stunning 190 runs for Bihar in List A cricket.
