Uttar Pradesh Transforms into a Healthy and Empowered State, Says CM Yogi Adityanath
CM Yogi Adityanath highlights Uttar Pradeshs healthcare transformation, boasting increased medical colleges and improved services since 2017.

Lucknow, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently shared the story of the state’s transformation into a “Healthy and Empowered Uttar Pradesh” through his social media platform, X. He emphasized that the confidence in health security has become the new identity of the state, moving away from a reliance on treatment.
In his post, CM Yogi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance and the commitment to uplift the underprivileged, stating that since 2017, the double-engine BJP government has made significant strides in improving the previously inadequate healthcare system. He pointed out that Uttar Pradesh, once known for its “One District-One Mafia” reputation, is now setting new benchmarks in healthcare with the initiative of “One District-One Medical College.”
The Chief Minister noted that the number of medical colleges in the state has increased from just 36 in 2017 to 85 today. Similarly, the number of MBBS seats has surged from 4,690 to over 13,600. This growth has not only expanded opportunities for medical education for youth but also improved access to quality healthcare for the general public.
He also highlighted that more than 10 million residents are now covered under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Campaign. This coverage has relieved them from the financial burden of serious illnesses, allowing them to live with dignity and better health.
To enhance healthcare services, the government has focused on strengthening hospital infrastructure and expanding facilities for diagnostics and critical care. Efforts have been made to improve medical services at primary health centers, community health centers, and district hospitals. This includes the introduction of digital X-ray and ultrasound services, as well as the development of oxygen plants, blood storage units, critical care blocks, and integrated public health labs.
The aim of these healthcare expansions is to provide better local diagnostic and treatment facilities for patients and ensure timely medical assistance in critical cases. Initiatives to bring specialist services to district and block levels are also being emphasized to reduce reliance on large hospitals and enhance access to healthcare in rural areas.
