Lucknow, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : In a remarkable environmental initiative, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to honor teachers by planting trees under the theme ‘One Tree for Each Guru’ on Teacher’s Day, September 5. This event is part of the larger tree plantation campaign, Mahayagya-2026, which recently achieved a record by planting over 352.7 million trees in a single day.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has made significant strides in environmental efforts. On July 12, during the launch of the campaign in Gorakhpur, the government surpassed its target of 350 million trees by an impressive margin.
In Lucknow, Divisional Forest Officer Sitanshu Pandey announced that a tree planting event will take place near the Chandrika Devi Temple. Visitors will receive saplings as mementos during this special occasion.
Chief Minister Adityanath is expected to participate in the main Teacher’s Day event in Gorakhpur, where he will also plant trees as part of the ‘One Tree for Each Guru’ initiative. Preparations are in full swing across all forest divisions in the state for this significant event.
Aditi Sharma, Chief Conservator of Forests (Public Relations), confirmed that several special forests have been established this year, including initiatives like Forest Yoga, and large-scale plantings on Environment Day and other commemorative occasions.
This initiative not only honors educators but also reinforces the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
