USA Triumphs Over Scotland in U-19 World Cup Playoff with Adnit Jhamb’s Century

Harare: In the U-19 World Cup 2026 playoff match held at Harare Sports Club, the USA secured a convincing 7-wicket victory against Scotland on Monday. The win ensured their progression in the tournament with a strong batting display anchored by Adnit Jhamb’s unbeaten century.

Scotland’s Innings and Bowling Highlights

Winning the toss, Scotland elected to bat first and were bowled out for 236 runs on the final ball of their innings. The opening partnership between Theo Robinson and Ollie Pillinger laid a solid foundation, adding 57 runs in 9.2 overs. Pillinger contributed 23 runs before getting out early. Rory Grant, batting at number three, could not make a significant impact, scoring less than 10 runs.

Theo Robinson formed a crucial 89-run third-wicket partnership with Manu Saraswat, who scored 41 runs off 49 balls, including three boundaries. Robinson played a patient innings of 83 runs from 101 balls, hitting one six and eight fours. Jake Woodhouse added 28 valuable runs towards the end of the innings.

From the USA bowling side, Ritvik Appidi was the most successful with four wickets, supported by Ryan Taj’s three wickets. Utkarsh Srivastava and Shiv Shani took one wicket each.

USA’s Chase Led by Adnit Jhamb and Utkarsh Srivastava

Chasing 237, the USA completed the target in 38.4 overs. Openers Sahil Garg and Amarinder Gill provided a steady start with a 39-run partnership in 8.2 overs. Garg scored 16 runs off 21 balls before falling. Gill then joined hands with Adnit Jhamb to add 47 runs for the second wicket, taking the team to 86.

Gill contributed 35 runs before being dismissed. At this point, the USA had lost two wickets. The captain, Utkarsh Srivastava, then built a match-winning 129-run partnership with Jhamb, steering the team closer to victory.

Srivastava scored 52 runs, including one six and eight fours, before getting out. Adnit Jhamb remained unbeaten on 116 runs off 93 balls, hitting one six and 17 fours, ensuring a comfortable win for the USA. Ollie Jones took two wickets for Scotland, while Manu Saraswat claimed one.
