Ukraines Energy Infrastructure Under Siege as Russia Strikes, Zelensky Reports

President Zelensky reports severe Russian attacks on Ukraines energy infrastructure, leaving thousands without power.

Kyiv, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine announced that Russian forces targeted the country’s energy infrastructure on Saturday night. Attacks were reported in the regions of Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Khmelnytskyi, affecting vital services.

In a post on the social media platform X, Zelensky detailed the assault, stating, “Russia has struck our energy infrastructure in four regions: Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Khmelnytskyi. Substations, transformers, and power lines that deliver electricity to homes have been targeted. Repair teams are working everywhere, but hundreds of thousands of families remain without power.”

The president emphasized that Russian attacks on other critical infrastructure continue unabated. Over the past week, Russia has launched 1,940 drones, more than 1,580 guided aerial bombs, and 44 different types of missiles, including 36 ballistic missiles. The intensity of these assaults is alarming, and Russia appears to be exploiting a shortage of interceptors capable of neutralizing ballistic missile threats.

Zelensky stated, “We discuss our need for Patriot missiles with the United States, Europe, and other partner nations every day. This month, the U.S. and several European countries have announced new aid packages for Ukraine, but delivery cannot take years. Russia is currently destroying our infrastructure and taking lives, betting on ballistic missiles this winter.”

He called for immediate implementation of decisions related to air defense. Zelensky expressed gratitude to all those supporting the security of Ukraine’s skies.
