Mumbai, March 20: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav addressed an event in Ujjain on Friday, announcing significant infrastructure upgrades in anticipation of the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. All roads connecting to Ujjain will be transformed into four-lane and six-lane highways to accommodate the expected influx of visitors.
Yadav emphasized that the state government is committed to making this Simhastha Mela unprecedented and historic, with preparations already underway. Approximately 30 kilometers of new ghats are being constructed along the banks of the Shipra River.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Ujjain’s development from a business and industrial perspective, mentioning projects like Vikram Udyogpuri and a Medical Device Park that are progressing rapidly. He noted that a 12,500-acre industrial area has already been fully developed, with plans for an additional 5,000 acres for a new park. Furthermore, new airport and helicopter services are being planned to boost religious tourism.
In the coming years, Ujjain is expected to emerge not only as a religious center but also as a hub for culture, industry, and global recognition. Yadav stated that when the grand Simhastha is presented in 2028, the world will witness the magnificence of Sanatan culture.
These projects, with an estimated cost of ₹662.46 crores, are being implemented under various urban development plans by the Ujjain Development Authority (UDA). They include the construction of a new township and the expansion of water supply and sewer infrastructure.
Last week, CM Yadav laid the foundation for several development projects related to Simhastha 2028, also estimated at ₹662.46 crores, which encompass a new township and the expansion of water and sewer systems.
