Udhampur Police Seize Property Worth Rs 30 Lakh from Drug Mafia

Udhampur Police in Jammu and Kashmir have taken a strong stance against drug trafficking, achieving a significant breakthrough by seizing property worth nearly Rs 30 lakh belonging to interstate drug smuggler Sanaullah Mir.

The seized asset is a truck registered under the number PB13AR-5475. The vehicle is linked to Sanaullah Mir, a resident of Dhuri Road in Sangrur district of Punjab. This action has been carried out under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations revealed that the truck was purchased using money earned from illegal drug trafficking.

This case is connected to the First Information Report (FIR) number 125/2020, registered at Udhampur Police Station under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act. During the probe, the police conducted a detailed examination of the accused’s financial status, transactions, and backward linkages. The financial investigation confirmed that the truck was acquired with proceeds from the illicit drug trade.

Police officials stated that the accused has been involved in interstate drug trafficking for a long time. The truck was also being used to facilitate these illegal activities. Once concrete evidence was gathered, the investigating officer formally ordered the attachment of the property to proceed with legal actions.

With this latest seizure, the total value of assets confiscated by Udhampur Police in NDPS cases this year has reached approximately Rs 1.40 crore.

The Udhampur Police emphasized that their fight against drug trafficking is not limited to arrests alone but also targets the illegal earnings of traffickers. By confiscating their properties, authorities aim to financially weaken the criminals and send a strong message to deter others.
