Giriraj Singh Predicts TMC Defeat in Bengal, Claims Himanta Biswa Sarmas Return in Assam

Patna, April 10: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has asserted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will face a significant defeat in West Bengal, while Himanta Biswa Sarma is poised to reclaim his position as Chief Minister in Assam.

Speaking to a news agency, Singh noted that the voter turnout in Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry reached unprecedented levels. He stated, “The voting percentages in Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry indicate that the Election Commission successfully removed ineligible voters from the rolls. This time, eligible voters exercised their rights, leading to an increase in turnout. This reflects trust in PM Modi, the development initiatives of the Indian government, and the support for the double-engine government.”

Regarding the removal of 9.1 million names from the voter list in West Bengal, Singh emphasized that the TMC will suffer a severe defeat this time. He also expressed confidence that Sarma will win the elections decisively and return as Chief Minister of Assam.

On the topic of the Women’s Reservation Bill, Singh remarked that there has been no positive response from opposition parties. He stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions a strong India by 2047, with half of our population, women, playing a crucial role. I hope that during the three-day session, all political parties will unite to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill by a majority.”

He further highlighted the progress in women’s banking since 2014, stating, “Before 2014, under Congress, there was a bank linkage of ₹22,000 crores with around 2.25 million ‘Jeevika Didis’. Today, over 10.5 crore women are linked to banks with a total linkage of ₹12 lakh crores. This demonstrates PM Modi’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Economic empowerment can lead to political and social empowerment, especially during elections.”

Singh concluded by stressing the importance of reservation for SC/ST and women, stating, “Without reserved seats, they would not be able to win. Similarly, reservation for women is essential.”
