Tel Aviv, February 27: Rising tensions between Iran and the United States have captured global attention. Reports indicate that nine U.S. refueling tankers have arrived at Israel’s renowned Ben Gurion Airport. This information was shared by Israeli media.
According to ‘The Times of Israel,’ analysts tracking open-source flight data revealed that at least nine U.S. refueling tankers landed overnight at Ben Gurion Airport as part of a significant U.S. military presence in the Middle East. The media outlet also shared images of the aircraft stationed at the airport.
This week, several U.S. refueling and cargo planes have been spotted at Ben Gurion Airport, alongside 11 F-22 stealth fighter jets that landed at Ovda Airbase in southern Israel, accompanied by logistical support planes and aircrew.
Currently, at least 14 U.S. refueling aircraft are stationed at Ben Gurion Airport. Should U.S. President Donald Trump order a military strike against Iran, these tankers could assist American fighter jets stationed aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, which is heading toward Israel’s northern coast.
In light of the potential threat of U.S. attacks on Iran, the U.S. has permitted non-essential government employees and their families to leave Israel.
The Department of State’s advisory suggests that U.S. citizens “consider leaving Israel until commercial flights are available.” It also recommends avoiding travel to certain areas within Israel.
This warning comes as negotiations between the U.S. and Iran regarding Tehran’s nuclear program have yet to yield results. Further discussions are expected next week.
