Trump Promises to Veto Democratic Legislation if They Win Midterms

Trump declares he will veto any Democratic bills if they gain control in the midterm elections, claiming he could become Mr. Veto.

Washington, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Former President Donald Trump has made a bold statement regarding the upcoming midterm elections. He warned that if the Democrats secure control of Congress, he will veto any legislation they propose.

In an interview with Miranda Devine on the “Pod For One” podcast, Trump expressed confidence in his party’s performance but quickly added, “If we don’t win, I will veto everything. I will just keep vetoing.” He humorously referred to himself as “Mr. Veto,” suggesting that after a couple of months of vetoing, Democrats would come to negotiate.

When asked about the possibility of running for a third term, Trump indicated he would like to, but acknowledged the constraints of the Constitution, which limits presidents to two terms. “I would love to run again. Recently, a poll showed I was ahead of everyone else. I enjoy campaigning, but it is what it is,” he said.

The 80-year-old Trump won the presidency in both 2016 and 2020. He emphasized that there is still more than two years left in the current term, a significant amount of time to achieve more accomplishments.

Trump also mentioned that if the Democrats were to initiate investigations against his associates after winning Congress, he would be ready to offer pardons. “If necessary, I will absolutely do that… I won’t even need to think about it. I will just do it,” he stated, referencing his previous actions related to the January 6 incident.

He dismissed polls showing Democrats leading, claiming they are rigged and suggesting many polling agencies do not survey Republicans. “I believe we will perform well. I base this on the rallies,” he added.

Trump warned that if Democrats win the House, Senate, and the White House, it would spell disaster for the country. Current public polls indicate that Democrats are favored to win the House. A recent New York Times/Siena poll showed Democratic Senate candidates leading by 5 to 11 points in states like Kansas, Ohio, Maine, Texas, and Michigan.

Under the Constitution, Congress can only override a presidential veto with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House and Senate. During his first term, Trump vetoed ten bills.
