Ghaziabad, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, police have arrested two suspects following two separate encounters on September 24, 2026. Both individuals sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
The first incident occurred in the Kavindgar police station area. Officers apprehended a suspect involved in a vehicle theft case. On September 11, a local resident reported that two assailants had snatched a gold mangalsutra from his wife, fleeing with approximately five grams of gold. Acting on this complaint, the police registered a case and initiated a search for the suspects.
A police team, formed to investigate the incident, identified the accused through CCTV footage and local intelligence. On September 23, while conducting checks, the team attempted to arrest Imran, also known as Makki, a 20-year-old resident of Loheya Nagar in Adarsh Nagar, Delhi, near the IDL College Road intersection in Shatabdipuram. According to police, Imran opened fire on the officers, resulting in a gunshot wound to his leg. He was subsequently transported to the Combined District Hospital in Sanjay Nagar, Ghaziabad. Authorities confirmed that further legal actions are underway in this case.
The second encounter took place in the Indirapuram police station area, where officers detained a wanted snatcher. The police recovered a stolen motorcycle, a firearm, cartridges, and a piece of yellow metal from the suspect. While conducting checks on suspicious vehicles and individuals at the Vasundhara T-point in Sector 1, officers noticed a suspicious individual approaching on a motorcycle. Upon seeing the police, he attempted to flee.
As officers pursued him, the suspect fired at the police team. In the ensuing exchange, he was shot in the leg and arrested. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Amir Ali, also known as Aman, hails from Chilla village in Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Delhi. He was wanted in a case registered at the Indirapuram police station.
During questioning, Amir admitted to collaborating with an accomplice named Suhail in a series of chain snatchings, mobile thefts, and motorcycle robberies across Delhi-NCR and Ghaziabad. Police reported that Amir has a significant criminal record, with nearly a dozen cases registered against him for robbery, snatching, theft, violations of the Arms Act, and gang-related activities. Investigations into his associate Suhail and related cases are ongoing.
