Imran Khan Given Notice to Leave India by October 28 Amid Protests

Bollywood actor Imran Khan faces expulsion from India by October 28 after participating in a protest.

Mumbai, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Bollywood actor Imran Khan, the nephew of renowned filmmaker Aamir Khan, is facing escalating challenges as Mumbai police have issued him a notice to leave India by October 28. This action comes under the Immigration and Foreign Act, sections 7 and 29. Imran has acknowledged receipt of this notice.

The police’s decision follows his involvement in a protest at August Kranti Maidan, where demonstrators demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Imran was detained during this event, which has now reignited discussions surrounding his immigration status.

On October 10, the protest at August Kranti Maidan was organized in support of a movement by the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) in Delhi, calling for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner over a controversy related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Imran Khan was among the participants.

During the protest, Mumbai police detained numerous individuals, including Imran. Security measures were heightened in the area, with barricades erected to manage the crowd. Videos of Imran being escorted by police went viral on social media, although he was later released.

In the aftermath, police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Imran and several others linked to the protest. The notice for him to leave India has drawn renewed attention to the case, particularly concerning his participation in political demonstrations as a foreign national.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has also called for action against Imran, questioning whether a foreign citizen should be allowed to engage in political protests in India. He has urged the police to investigate the matter further, emphasizing that Imran’s foreign nationality warrants scrutiny.

The issue of Imran’s Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card has also surfaced in discussions. While the OCI card allows people of Indian origin to live and enjoy certain privileges in India, it does not confer full citizenship rights.

As the deadline approaches, all eyes are on how Imran Khan will respond to this notice and what subsequent actions the police will take.
