Two Arrested in Nawanshahr Linked to Gangster Network; Firearms Seized

Two suspects tied to a gangster network were arrested in Nawanshahr, Punjab, with firearms and ammunition recovered during the operation.

Nawanshahr, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : A joint operation by Punjab’s Anti-Gangster Task Force and Counter Intelligence has led to the arrest of two individuals connected to a gangster network in Nawanshahr. This was confirmed by Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav.

Yadav announced the successful operation on social media, stating, “In a significant achievement, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with Counter Intelligence Punjab and SBS Nagar police, has apprehended two individuals linked to a gangster network in Nawanshahr. Two .30 caliber sophisticated pistols and ammunition were recovered from them.”

Initial investigations revealed that the suspects were in contact with handlers based abroad. They were allegedly tasked with assassinating a member of a rival gang during a court appearance in SBS Nagar. The timely arrest thwarted a planned murder.

Further, the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the murder of a village head in Ludhiana on October 3. This indicates a possible connection to contract killings orchestrated by their foreign handlers. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the extent of their criminal network and affiliations. The Punjab Police remains committed to dismantling gangster networks, curbing organized crime, and maintaining peace and security across the state.

In a separate case, on October 21, the DGP reported the dismantling of a network involved in drug trafficking and illegal arms and explosives. In that operation, seven suspects were arrested, and authorities seized a hand grenade, two pistols, and 3.491 kilograms of heroin.
