PM Modi Advocates Humility and Continuous Learning in Recent Social Media Post

Prime Minister Modi emphasizes the importance of humility and learning over arrogance in a recent social media message.

New Delhi, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an insightful message on humility and the importance of continuous learning on social media platform X on Thursday. He quoted a Sanskrit shloka that conveys a powerful lesson about the transient nature of small achievements.

The shloka, “खद्योतो द्योतते तावद् यावन्नोदयते शशी. उदिते तु सहस्रांशौ न खद्योतो न चन्द्रमाः..” suggests that a firefly shines only until the moon rises. Once the sun appears, neither the firefly’s light nor the moon’s glow is visible. This metaphor illustrates that minor accomplishments hold significance only until greater achievements come to light.

This particular shloka is part of the well-known Sanskrit collection “Sūbhāṣitaratnabhāṇḍāgāra” and has been referenced in various Sanskrit sayings and collections. It emphasizes that the brilliance of a firefly is overshadowed when the sun rises, just as lesser talents fade in the presence of greater ones.

Through this post, PM Modi conveyed that individuals should avoid arrogance and instead maintain humility and a desire to learn. The imagery of the sun’s light serves as a reminder that true greatness diminishes the visibility of lesser lights, reinforcing the idea that one should always strive to grow and learn.
