Two Arrested for Stealing Foreign Liquor Worth ₹27,200 in Pune

Pune, August 18: Two individuals were apprehended by police in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar after stolen liquor was discovered at a shop on Tuesday. The suspects were found in possession of six bottles of foreign liquor valued at ₹27,200.

According to officials, the suspects were arrested near the GST office by a team from the Yerwada police station. Investigators identified the accused as Rohan Ram Kamble (28) and Amit Mahadev Sitapure (27).

Authorities reported that both individuals have been charged under Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code. During a patrol in the area, Officer Sandeep Jaybhay received a tip-off about two suspicious young men standing near the GST office, possibly with stolen goods.

Acting on this information, the police team arrived at the scene and stopped the two men. During questioning, they were unable to provide satisfactory answers. A search of their bag revealed six bottles of foreign liquor.

The police took both suspects to the Yerwada police station for further questioning, where they confessed that the liquor bottles had been stolen from a shop called ‘Tonic Outlet’ in Kalyani Nagar.

According to the police, the recovered liquor is linked to a theft case registered at the Yerwada police station. Sub-Inspector Kishor Berad is investigating the case to identify any potential gang involvement and to determine if the suspects have been involved in similar incidents before.

Investigators have initiated the necessary legal proceedings regarding the case.
