
Muzaffarnagar, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : In Muzaffarnagar, significant developments have emerged in a gang rape case involving a minor that occurred on the night of Janmashtami. Police apprehended two suspects following an encounter in the Chapar police jurisdiction. During the incident, both suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and were subsequently hospitalized before being remanded into custody.
The case dates back to Janmashtami night when the minor girl visited a temple to offer prayers. It is alleged that on her way back, a local teenager lured her to his home under false pretenses, where he was joined by two accomplices. The trio is accused of sexually assaulting the young girl.
Following the incident, the victim’s family filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections. Police acted swiftly, arresting one suspect earlier, while two others remained at large.
In light of the seriousness of the case, Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Verma ordered the formation of special teams to track down the fugitives. On Sunday, police received a tip-off indicating that the two suspects were attempting to flee through the forests of Reta Nangla. Acting on this information, police set up a perimeter to apprehend them.
According to police reports, as they closed in, the suspects opened fire on the officers. In the ensuing exchange, both suspects were injured and taken into custody.
SSP Verma confirmed that one suspect had already been jailed prior to this encounter, while the other two were apprehended during the confrontation. He emphasized that there would be zero tolerance for crimes against minors or women in Muzaffarnagar, assuring the public of ongoing strict measures.
Additionally, Uttar Pradesh government minister Kapil Dev Agarwal visited the victim’s family, assuring them that severe action would be taken against the perpetrators. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of women and girls, stating that any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
The police have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and all necessary legal procedures are being followed.
