Washington, August 14 (Kiran News) – US President Donald Trump has warned Russia that it will face “very serious” consequences if it does not end the ongoing war in Ukraine. Speaking to reporters at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday, Trump said that if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire, strong measures, including tariffs and sanctions, will be imposed.

This statement comes ahead of Trump’s scheduled meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15. Trump added that if the first meeting is successful, he will propose a second round of talks involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as well.
On Wednesday, Trump also participated in a virtual meeting with European leaders. According to French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump made a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine his top priority. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky accused Putin of “bluffing” and attempting to pressure Ukraine in order to project the ability to take control of the entire country.
