Controversy Erupts as JDU Legislator Backs Rival Candidate in Bihar Elections
Political tensions rise in Bihar as JDUs Anant Singh backs a rival candidate, prompting responses from party leaders.

Patna, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Political activity is heating up in Bihar as elections for eight seats in the Legislative Council approach, consisting of four graduate and four teacher constituencies. A new controversy has emerged following JDU legislator Anant Kumar Singh’s decision to campaign for Anuj Singh, the candidate from the ‘Jan Suraj’ party, rather than supporting his own party’s nominee.
In a statement, Anant Singh expressed his intentions to meet with individuals he regards as divine and seek their blessings, urging them to vote for Anuj Singh. He emphasized, “The public is my master and my God. I am campaigning for votes while remaining with my party.”
Following Singh’s remarks, JDU’s national general secretary Shyam Rajak responded, stating that the party is unconcerned about individual actions. “We have fully prepared for the elections and selected candidates for all eight vacant seats. Everyone is working for these candidates. We are focused solely on ensuring their victory,” he said.
Rajak further noted the importance of freedom of expression in a democracy, while asserting that all party members respect the leader’s decisions. “The leader has made a decision that the NDA has accepted,” he added.
Meanwhile, JDU spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan claimed that the NDA coalition is poised for victory in the upcoming MLC elections. He mentioned that the coalition is continuously assessing feedback from party workers. “Our candidates are in a strong position across all eight constituencies. Ground realities indicate we are heading for a significant win. Our workers are actively engaged on the ground,” he stated.
