Trump Claims Irans Parliament Speaker May Be Open to Cooperation with the U.S. Soon

Washington, March 31: U.S. President Donald Trump stated in an interview that it will soon be clear whether Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is willing to cooperate with the United States.

According to Xinhua, referencing an interview with the New York Post, Trump described a dramatic shift within Iran’s leadership. He claimed that the old regime has effectively been replaced by a new group, making interactions easier so far.

Trump asserted, “There has been a complete change of power, as the previous governments have ended, and we are dealing with an entirely new group. So far, they have proven to be much more reasonable.”

Meanwhile, Trump has repeatedly urged Iran to reach an agreement “before it’s too late.”

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated during a press briefing on Monday that Trump hopes to finalize a deal with Iran by April 6. This new deadline was set after Trump postponed airstrikes on Iran’s energy facilities last week.

Levitt also mentioned that the Iranian officials negotiating with Washington appear to be more reasonable, although she declined to disclose their names.

She said, “These individuals, behind the scenes, privately in these negotiations, seem to be more reasonable than the former leaders who are no longer in this world.”

Earlier on Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Al Jazeera that it is “not entirely clear how decisions are being made within Iran” amid Washington’s efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict.

Despite Trump’s claims of progress in talks with Iran, local analysts argue that no substantial advancements have been made. They also note that ongoing attacks and military deployments in the Middle East further diminish hopes for a swift peace.

On Sunday, the conflict between the U.S. and Israel against Iran marked one month. Trump threatened on Monday morning that if an agreement is not reached soon, he would completely destroy all of Iran’s power plants, oil wells, and Kharg Island.
