Trump Accuses Iran of Ceasefire Violations Ahead of Talks

Washington, April 21: U.S. President Donald Trump has once again targeted Iran through a social media post. This time, his message is brief yet impactful, threatening Iran just before the temporary ceasefire deadline expires.

On Truth Social, Trump stated, “Iran has violated the ceasefire multiple times.” His remarks come as the deadline for the temporary ceasefire approaches, and uncertainty looms over the second round of Islamabad talks. The ceasefire was announced on April 8 at 5:30 AM Indian time.

A clear lack of trust is evident on both sides. Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker MB Ghalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, are expressing skepticism about U.S. intentions.

In a recent statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi noted that America’s “provocative actions” and ceasefire violations pose significant obstacles to ongoing peace talks between the two nations.

During separate phone conversations with his Pakistani and Russian counterparts, Araghchi condemned U.S. actions against Iranian commercial shipping, including the alleged seizure of the container ship Tuska and its crew. According to the Foreign Ministry’s statement, he also referenced Washington’s “contradictory policies and threatening rhetoric.”

The ceasefire, which took effect after 40 days of conflict on April 8, remains fragile. Pakistan has mediated indirect talks between Tehran and Washington, hosting the first round in Islamabad on April 11-12. However, doubts persist regarding the second round of negotiations.

Meanwhile, Trump has outlined the conditions he expects from Iran, including the surrender of uranium and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
