New Delhi, April 22: Today marks the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, which occurred last year on this date. On that tragic day, 26 innocent lives were taken by terrorists who crossed the border. In remembrance, Israeli Ambassador to India, Rouven Azar, expressed solidarity with India in the fight against terrorism.
Azar released a video clip on the social media platform X, expressing sorrow over the loss of 26 innocent lives in the Pahalgam attack. He stated, “It has been a year since the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 innocent people lost their lives. I extend my condolences to the bereaved families and the people of India. We stand with you in this time of grief.”
He also referenced the surprise attack by Hamas on Israel, saying, “We in Israel are not unfamiliar with this pain. On October 7, 2023, we faced a similar kind of brutality.”
According to the Israeli envoy, these attacks highlight that “terrorism knows no borders. Our grief is shared. India and Israel are committed to fighting terrorism together. We are fully dedicated to confronting this threat. This is both our resolve and determination!”
It is noteworthy that on April 22, 2025, tourists vacationing in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam were targeted and shot at indiscriminately by terrorists who had crossed the border. India took this incident seriously and responded decisively.
Fifteen days later, on May 7, Indian forces conducted an airstrike named Operation Sindoor in Pakistan-administered Kashmir at 1:30 AM. This operation targeted and destroyed nine terrorist hideouts, including the headquarters of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and the base of Jaish-e-Mohammed leader Masood Azhar. Over 100 terrorists were reported killed in the attack, which Pakistan later acknowledged.
