Train Services to Be Affected in August Due to Railway Development Works

East Singhbhum, August 1 (HS): Several trains will be affected in August due to large-scale development and maintenance work being undertaken by South Eastern Railway in the Sambalpur and Bilaspur divisions. The movement of trains passing through Tatanagar will also be impacted, forcing passengers to modify their travel plans.

Train Cancellations and Short Terminations in Sambalpur Division

Track repairs and signalling work in the Sambalpur division have led to the cancellation of several trains on the Shalimar–Sambalpur route.

  • 20832 Sambalpur–Shalimar Express will remain cancelled on 7, 10, 12, and 14 August,

  • 20831 Shalimar–Sambalpur Express will not run on 8, 11, 13, and 15 August.

  • 22803/22804 Shalimar–Sambalpur Express will be cancelled on 8, 9, 15, and 16 August,

  • Visakhapatnam–Banaras Express (18523/18524) will not operate between 10 and 14 August.

Some trains will be partially operated from or terminated at Rengali Station:

  • Sambalpur–Gorakhpur Express (15027) will run only till Rengali from 8 to 15 August,

  • Gorakhpur–Sambalpur Express (15028) will run only up to Rengali from 6 to 13 August,

  • Jammu Tawi–Sambalpur Express (18309/18310) will also originate or terminate at Rengali on 10, 11, 12, and 14 August.
    Additionally, local MEMU services between Sambalpur and Jamshedpur will be restricted to Sambalpur City.

Service Disruptions in Bilaspur Division

Track improvement works in the Bilaspur division from 23 to 27 August will lead to the cancellation of Tatanagar–Bilaspur Express (18113/18114) in both directions.

Long-distance trains bound for Mumbai, Pune, Hatia, Udaipur, Gaya, Shalimar, Rourkela, and Raxaul will either be diverted or cancelled for select days.
For example,

  • Santragachi–Pune Express and Pune–Santragachi Express will run via Jharsuguda–Titlagarh–Lalitpur–Raipur on 23 and 25 August, respectively.

Railway’s Advisory to Passengers

The railway administration has urged passengers to check the real-time status of their trains through official websites, social media, or helplines before starting their journey. Apologising for the inconvenience, officials clarified that these changes are necessary to enhance long-term infrastructure and ensure punctual train operations.
