Mumbai, March 14: It is often said that timely access to the right scheme can transform a small farmer’s life. A vivid example of this is Veeru Rajak from the village of Hussainabad in Sheikhpura district, Bihar. By leveraging the Prime Minister’s Micro Food Enterprises (PM-FME) scheme, he has carved out a new identity in mushroom farming. Today, he produces mushrooms on a large scale, significantly improving his family’s financial situation. He began his journey in a small room.
Veeru Rajak shares, “Initially, I cultivated mushrooms in a tiny room at home. Due to limited space and resources, my production was low, and my income was meager. It became quite challenging to support my family and cover my children’s education expenses.”
He continues, “During this time, I learned about the PM-FME scheme. I applied and received government assistance. With this support, I expanded my mushroom production. I arranged for better sheds, equipment, and essential materials. After benefiting from the scheme, I organized my mushroom farming systematically. Now, I produce mushrooms on a large scale. Thanks to my hard work and the scheme’s support, my production has increased manifold. There is a strong demand for my mushrooms in local markets, resulting in significantly higher earnings than before.”
Veeru Rajak expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, stating that this scheme has proven highly beneficial for small farmers like him. He believes that with the right information and support, farmers can become self-reliant. Through government initiatives, hard work, and proper guidance, this small farmer from Sheikhpura has not only transformed his life but has also paved the way for other farmers in his village.
