Giridih, May 8: A tragic incident unfolded in the Isri market of Giridih district, Jharkhand, on Friday evening when an out-of-control truck wreaked havoc, claiming five lives and injuring more than 20 others. Many of the injured are in critical condition.
Witnesses reported that the truck driver lost control, plowing through parked vehicles and pedestrians. The bustling market was filled with shoppers, leaving little time for anyone to react. The scene quickly turned chaotic, filled with screams and panic.
Local residents sprang into action, rescuing those trapped under the wreckage. The Dumri police team arrived promptly, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for initial treatment. Those with severe injuries were referred for advanced care.
Authorities have seized the truck involved in the accident and initiated the identification process for the deceased by sending their bodies for post-mortem examinations. Following the incident, there is widespread anger and tension in the area. Local villagers expressed their frustration over the speed of heavy vehicles in the market, leading to protests against the administration. The police are working to manage the situation and restore traffic flow.
