Tragic Incident in Jammu-Kashmirs Jai Valley: Youth Dies in Attempt to Disarm Security Team

Jammu, July 17: A tragic incident occurred in the Jai Valley of Doda district, Jammu-Kashmir, where a youth allegedly attempted to seize weapons from a Special Operations Group (SOG) team. The confrontation resulted in the death of the assailant and injuries to three security personnel. In response to the situation, mobile internet services have been suspended across Doda district as a precautionary measure.

According to initial reports, the incident took place in the high-altitude tourist area of Jai Valley, located in Bhaderwah, Doda. A young man reportedly attacked the SOG team and attempted to take their rifles. During the ensuing gunfire, the assailant was killed, and three soldiers were injured.

A senior police officer stated that the SOG team had initiated surveillance on Jai-Gandoh Road, approximately 35 kilometers from Bhaderwah, following reports of suspicious activities in the mountainous region. At around 11:30 PM, they intercepted a young man who allegedly attacked them in an attempt to seize their weapon.

During the altercation, an SOG member fired, resulting in the assailant being shot and three police officers sustaining injuries. The injured were initially taken to SDH Bhaderwah and later referred to GMC Doda. Unfortunately, the individual who was shot succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Arif Hussain, 30, a resident of Bhalla village in Bhaderwah. The police are currently investigating the matter further. Meanwhile, mobile internet services in Doda have been suspended as a precaution.

It is noteworthy that there have been reports of increased terrorist activities in various parts of Jammu-Kashmir in recent months. Recently, two suspicious individuals were also spotted in Rajouri district, and their activities are under investigation.
