Mumbai, August 27: A 20-year-old student was found hanging in his hostel room at NIMS University near Jaipur. The incident came to light when fellow students noticed a foul odor emanating from his locked room and alerted the police late Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Mohit Saini, a resident of Lotesar in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh. He was a second-year student in the CPT program and resided in the university’s Sunrise Hostel.
According to police, they received the report late at night. The strong smell from Saini’s room raised suspicions among the hostel residents. They informed the Chandwaji police, who dispatched a team to the hostel. Upon forcing open the locked room, officers discovered Saini’s body hanging inside. The body has been sent to NIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Chandwaji SHO Rajbir Singh stated that the condition of the body and the odor suggested that Saini may have died one or two days prior to the discovery. While police suspect suicide, the exact cause of death has yet to be determined. Investigators are gathering information from hostel officials and fellow students. The post-mortem is expected to provide further insights into the cause and timing of death.
This tragic event occurred just one day after another student at NIMS University reportedly died after falling from the 15th floor of the hostel. Aditya Tiwari, a B.Tech student from Lucknow, fell around 8:30 PM on August 25. At the time of the incident, both of his roommates were not present in the room.
Authorities are currently investigating both incidents and examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Statements from students, roommates, and hostel officials will be part of the inquiry.
The occurrence of these two incidents within two days has raised concerns on the university campus. However, police have not indicated any connection between the two cases at this time.
