
Patna, April 20: A joyous celebration turned tragic in Amava village, Nalanda district, Bihar, on Sunday night. A young man lost his life due to an accidental gunshot while loading a firearm for celebratory firing during a tilak ceremony. The incident caused chaos at the event, prompting police to launch an investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Chhotu Kumar, a resident of Gausnagar in the Sharmera police area. Family members revealed that Chhotu was set to marry in just seven days. According to a police officer, the incident occurred while Chhotu was attending his friend Mantu Kumar’s tilak ceremony in Amava village.
The atmosphere was festive, with Chhotu dancing on stage with friends. While celebrating, he took out a country-made pistol from his pocket and began to wave it around. In an unfortunate turn of events, as he attempted to load a bullet into the weapon, the trigger was accidentally pulled, resulting in a fatal shot.
Chhotu was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Following the incident, police arrived at the scene to begin their investigation.
Reports indicate that Chhotu had been working in Delhi and returned home for the wedding. Authorities are currently working to recover the firearm involved in the shooting. A forensic science laboratory team has also been summoned to the site. Police noted that Chhotu Kumar had a history of criminal activities, including previous arrests for illegal possession of weapons and robbery.
