A high-voltage line incident during an idol immersion procession in Jabalpur resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries.

Jabalpur, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has left two people dead and more than ten injured during an idol immersion procession. The accident occurred late Tuesday night in the Majholi police station area, where a group was moving from Civil Lines Road toward Narili Talab for the immersion.
According to police reports, the incident involved a low-hanging 440-volt wire that came into contact with a high-tension line overhead. As the wire broke, it fell onto a tractor-trailer carrying participants, resulting in several individuals being electrocuted.
The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Vikas Rajput and 23-year-old Prince Chauhan, both of whom were seated on the tractor at the time of the accident.
Among the seriously injured are Mayank Rajput, Vicky Raikwar, Manish Rajput, and Ayush Raikwar. Initially taken to the Majholi Health Center, their conditions worsened, leading to their transfer to Jabalpur Medical College for advanced care.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Majholi police station chief Purva Chaurasiya and her team arrived at the scene. Emergency services transported the injured to Jabalpur using the 108 ambulance service.
Local residents have raised concerns regarding the medical response, claiming that there was no medical staff present at the health center initially, and that a doctor arrived nearly 30 minutes later.
Additionally, community members alleged that the issue of low-hanging power lines was discussed in a meeting involving police, administrative officials, and event organizers prior to the procession. Reports indicate that the electricity department was asked to secure the wires properly, but no corrective measures were taken in time.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and are expected to take action against those responsible.
