Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Life of Maharashtra Student at Chennais Golden Beach

Chennai, February 22: A tragic incident occurred at Golden Beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, involving a group of students from Maharashtra. The mishap took place when a group of 26 students went for a trip, and some of them got caught in the water.

Upon receiving the news, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis promptly contacted the Tamil Nadu government to oversee rescue and relief efforts.

In a statement on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Fadnavis shared, “As soon as we learned of the accident, the Maharashtra government reached out to the Tamil Nadu government for updates on the situation and ongoing rescue operations.”

According to the Tamil Nadu government, only three of the 26 students entered the water. Tragically, Mayuri Chaudhary, from Bhandara district, drowned. Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Jai Patil remain unknown, and a search is underway, while Raj Khedari has been safely rescued.

Family members of Jai Patil have arrived in Chennai, and Mayuri Chaudhary’s relatives are en route from Nagpur.

Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed his deep condolences to Mayuri’s family and urged the Tamil Nadu government to expedite the search and rescue operation. The Chief Minister’s office also noted that state administration is in constant contact with the affected families, providing all necessary assistance.

Relatives reported that the family learned about Mayuri’s death from a colleague. Mayuri had started working just 15 days ago and went for a stroll with some coworkers on her day off. The news reached her family around 7 AM. Her brother informed the media that their father, grandfather, and friends have traveled to Chennai.
