Tragic Accident in Solapur: Van Falls into Well, Eight Lives Lost

Solapur, June 14: A tragic accident occurred on Sunday in Solapur, Maharashtra, when a pickup van plunged into a well near Tandulwadi village on the Mhaswad-Pandharpur route. The incident resulted in the loss of eight lives, leaving the local community in shock and mourning. Among the deceased were four women and four children.

According to initial reports, the victims were returning to their village after visiting the Siddhnath Temple in Mhaswad when their van overturned and fell into the well. The vehicle lost control due to brake failure, leading to the tragic plunge.

Local residents and police quickly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis acknowledged the incident and expressed his sorrow over the deaths of women and children. He also announced compensation for the families of the deceased.

On the social media platform X, CM Fadnavis described the event as extremely tragic and heart-wrenching. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected and noted that seven individuals were rescued and are currently receiving medical treatment. The district collector and police superintendent promptly reached the site, and the state government is in constant touch with local administration.

He further stated that the state government would provide financial assistance of 500,000 rupees to the families of those who lost their lives.

NCP (SP) leader Rohit Pawar also expressed his condolences regarding the tragic loss of life. He remarked that the news of the van overturning into the well on the Mhaswad-Pandharpur route is deeply saddening, shocking, and heart-wrenching. He conveyed his sympathies to the families of the deceased and wished for the swift recovery of the injured.
