Traffic Advisory: Avoid Routes Near Kashmiri Gate Due to Protest

New Delhi, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Traffic disruptions are expected in New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued two advisories concerning the Kashmiri Gate area.

According to the advisories shared on their X account, a protest is scheduled outside the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This event is likely to impact traffic around Kashmiri Gate.

The protest location has been identified in front of the Old St. Stephen’s College building, directly opposite the CEO office. As a result, traffic in and around Kashmiri Gate will be significantly affected.

Traffic police have indicated that routes including Boulevard Road, Ring Road, SPM Marg, and NS Marg may experience diversions or regulation. Lothian Road could also be closed as needed.

Citizens are advised to plan their journeys in advance, allowing extra time, and to avoid Lothian Road, SPM Marg, NS Marg, and Boulevard Road where possible.

Buses and vehicles may be diverted based on traffic conditions towards Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Ring Road), Shanti Van Chowk, Hanuman Mandir, Chhatta Rail, Mori Gate roundabout, and Pul Dafrin.

Travelers heading to Kashmiri Gate and Old Delhi are encouraged to take alternative routes and exercise caution. Parking or stopping on affected roads is discouraged, as vehicles obstructing traffic will be removed, and legal action may be taken.

In a separate post, the Delhi Police noted that heavy congestion is expected on Barapullah Phase-3. The traffic police reported significant delays on the elevated road leading from Noida Link Road and Mayur Vihar Phase-1 towards Barapullah and Ring Road.

Interestingly, the traffic situation on Barapullah Phase-3 is not visible on Google Maps, leading many to continue using this route. This has intensified congestion at the Barapullah Junction, creating a bottleneck and causing slow-moving traffic towards Barapullah and Ring Road.

To alleviate the congestion, traffic from Barapullah Phase-3 is being redirected towards NH-24 and DND. Residents are advised to avoid this congested route and utilize alternative paths via NH-24 and DND. Traffic police officers are present on-site to manage the situation.
