Kolkata, March 14: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Brigade Parade Ground, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) posed five critical questions to him. This event marks the conclusion of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in West Bengal, as the state gears up for assembly elections.
In a social media post, TMC labeled the Prime Minister a ‘political tourist’ in West Bengal. The first question concerns the 60 lakh voters categorized under ‘logical inconsistency’ and sent for judicial hearings. TMC questioned how many Bangladeshis and Rohingyas were actually identified after the removal of 63 lakh names and the judicial hearings involving 60 lakh individuals, which reportedly led to the deaths of around 200 innocent people.
The second question from TMC addressed the rising LPG prices and the severe supply crisis that has left poor and vulnerable families without food. They inquired why no strategic reserves were established despite global instability.
TMC’s third question highlighted the alleged withholding of ₹1.96 lakh crore meant for West Bengal under various central schemes. They asked why the state government has failed to restart MGNREGA despite clear orders from the Supreme Court.
The fourth question raised concerns about Bengali migrant workers from West Bengal being targeted in BJP-ruled states for merely speaking their mother tongue. TMC condemned the harassment, detention, exile, and brutal killings of these workers.
Finally, TMC questioned why BJP leaders, including PM Modi, have repeatedly disrespected revered cultural and spiritual figures from Bengal, whom the people hold in high esteem.
Additionally, TMC has been putting up posters across the city since Friday night, demanding the central government clear outstanding payments owed to the West Bengal government under various schemes.
