New Delhi, August 10: England women’s cricket team captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews, and Sri Lankan batter Harshitha Samarawickrama have been nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for July 2026.
Nat Sciver-Brunt led England’s batting during the knockout stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 held in her home country, despite suffering a leg injury during the tournament. The experienced all-rounder played a crucial innings of 75 runs in the semi-final against South Africa when England lost three wickets within the first four overs, with only 23 runs on the board. For her outstanding performance, Sciver-Brunt was named Player of the Match.
Following this, the right-handed batter scored 58 runs in the final match against Australia at Lord’s. She formed a vital partnership of 133 runs for the fourth wicket with Heather Knight, although the team could not secure the title.
On the other hand, Hayley Matthews delivered an impressive performance with both bat and ball in a three-match ODI series against Ireland. Matthews began the series with a career-best unbeaten score of 159 runs and took three wickets for 52 runs in the first match. In the second match, she scored 100 runs and claimed two wickets. The West Indies won the series 3-0, with Matthews amassing 265 runs at an average of 132.50 and taking seven wickets.
Meanwhile, Harshitha Samarawickrama played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka‘s 2-1 series victory against Pakistan in the ODI series. She scored a total of 173 runs and was awarded Player of the Series. After a quiet first match, the left-handed batter partnered with Vishmi Gunaratne to score 100 runs in the second match. In the decisive match held in Hambantota, Harshitha scored 71 runs, leading Sri Lanka to an eight-wicket victory.
