Three Killed, Two Injured as Baraatis’ Car Falls into Gorge in Tehri

Tehri (Uttarakhand), October 23 (Daily Kiran): A tragic road accident occurred late last night on the Pawki Devi–Nai village road in Tehri district when a car carrying wedding guests fell nearly 200 metres into a gorge. Three people died on the spot, while two others were seriously injured. The vehicle, a Scorpio (UK-07 AC-3409), was carrying five passengers.

According to the Goolar police outpost, the five baraatis from Shyampur Ghadi Mechak were travelling from Gumaniwala to Nai village in Narendra Nagar when the driver lost control of the car near Nai. Upon receiving the information, the SDRF team from Vyasi post, led by Sub-Inspector Saur Singh, reached the site and began rescue operations with the help of the local police.

Despite the difficult terrain and darkness, the rescue operation continued through the night. After intense efforts, the SDRF team successfully retrieved the bodies and rescued the injured from the deep gorge.

Police identified the deceased as Vimal Kandiyal (31), son of late Survir Singh Kandiyal; Rahul Kaluda (23), son of late Rustam Singh Kaluda; and Ashish Kaluda (26), son of Rajkumar Kaluda — all residents of Shyampur (Rishikesh).

The injured have been identified as Nikhil Ramola (21), son of Anil Ramola, and Tanuj Pundir (26), both from Shyampur. They have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
