According to ABC News, New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a press conference on Sunday afternoon that around four gunmen opened fire inside the nightclub. The shooters were described as sharp shooters. Police are currently reviewing footage and, with the help of eyewitnesses, are trying to identify the suspects. The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Jamel Childs, 27-year-old Amadou Diallo, and 19-year-old Marvin St. Louis. Commissioner Tisch said the shooting may have been a result of gang warfare.

The shooting occurred at 3:27 am on Sunday inside the “Taste of the City Lounge” in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn. The club was crowded at the time of the incident. Tisch stated that at least 42 cartridge cases were recovered from the scene, belonging to 9 mm and .45 caliber weapons. One firearm used in the shooting was recovered near Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has appealed to the public for help in bringing the perpetrators to justice. He urged those present in the club at the time to assist the police and share details about the criminals’ appearance. Commissioner Tisch described the incident as truly horrifying. She noted that compared to the same period last year, the number of shooting victims in the city has dropped by nearly 22 percent this year.
