Mumbai, March 17: The threat of bomb placements across various locations in Mumbai continues to escalate. Recently, St. Xavier’s College in Mahim received a bomb threat, prompting immediate action from authorities. Following the threat, the college was evacuated for safety.
According to Mumbai police, a letter containing bomb threat details was discovered in the college’s restroom on Monday. The principal promptly notified the main control room. Police and bomb disposal squads quickly arrived on the scene to conduct a thorough search of the campus. So far, no explosive materials have been found. Authorities are investigating the anonymous letter, believing it to be primarily a hoax. The Mumbai police are taking appropriate measures and are actively investigating the matter.
Notably, on March 12, bomb threats were also reported for the Mumbai Metro, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), High Court, and Vidhan Bhavan. These threats were communicated via email, leading to heightened security measures. An email sent to Vidhan Bhavan stated, “A bomb has been placed in Vidhan Bhavan.” Consequently, the entire assembly complex was evacuated, and journalists and staff were sent outside. The bomb squad arrived promptly to initiate a search operation, but no explosives were discovered. The Mumbai Metro and several banks also received threatening emails.
Maharashtra Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde mentioned that an email was sent to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) at 6:57 AM, particularly threatening attacks during the ongoing budget session. The email identified four high-profile targets in Mumbai: Vidhan Bhavan, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Bombay High Court, and Mumbai Metro.
