Mumbai, March 28: After an impressive 2025 season, Texas A&M finished with an 11-2 record, marking the Aggies’ first appearance in the College Football Playoff. Thirteen starters from that roster received invitations to the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, including standout cornerback Will Lee III. Lee, who was one of coach Mike Elko’s first transfer additions in late 2024, has made a name for himself in the SEC.
At the combine, Lee measured 6’1 1/2″ and weighed 189 pounds, boasting an arm span of 32 3/4″. His 2025 season was statistically his best, recording a career-high 50 tackles, his first sack, and eight pass deflections, following ten deflections the previous season. According to Pro Football Focus, Lee achieved a respectable 68.5 coverage grade, allowing 32 receptions for 520 yards and four touchdowns.
Inconsistency is a common issue among cornerbacks, regardless of their combine stats. While Lee is projected as a fifth or sixth-round pick, an NFL scout believes he could be one of the draft’s hidden gems during the later rounds, akin to former Texas A&M cornerback Jaylon Jones, who now excels with the Indianapolis Colts.
“Lee was a consistent performer throughout college and jumps off the tape in press coverage… That talent was on display at the Senior Bowl, too,” the scout noted.
In the NFL, specific schemes require cornerbacks with elite length, especially in Cover 3 formations. This makes Will Lee an attractive late-round option for many NFL teams seeking immediate depth in their secondary while aiming to develop a potential star.
The 2026 NFL Draft is set to commence on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and will continue through Saturday, April 25.
