Mathura, March 22: A tragic road accident in the Kosi area of Mathura has led to heightened tensions. In response, police have swiftly arrested 13 individuals for inciting unrest.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar, the accident occurred last night, resulting in the death of a local figure known as ‘Farsa Baba.’ The truck driver was also severely injured and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The police have initiated legal proceedings related to the incident.
Following the accident, some miscreants spread false rumors on social media and within the community, leading to an angry mob blocking the national highway. Protesters threw stones at police and vehicles. In light of the escalating situation, law enforcement took a firm stance, filing serious charges against the rioters.
So far, police have arrested 13 individuals based on CCTV footage, while efforts continue to identify and apprehend additional offenders. Furthermore, a man named Daksh Chaudhary, along with three accomplices, was arrested for allegedly spreading rumors and obstructing government operations.
Authorities have implemented a sector scheme in the area, with police and magistrates patrolling to maintain order. The police have urged the public not to share posts on social media without verifying facts and to disregard any rumors.
According to Mathura police, the accident occurred in the Kosi Kalan area on Saturday morning, resulting in the unfortunate death of Sant Chandrashekhar, also known as ‘Farsa Baba.’ Investigations revealed that the container he stopped was loaded with grocery items, while the truck that collided with it was transporting wire. Authorities clarified that there is no connection between this incident and cow slaughter or trafficking.
