Patna, February 18: The Bihar Legislative Council witnessed another heated exchange on Wednesday between Minister Ashok Chaudhary and RJD member Sunil Kumar. The confrontation escalated when Kumar questioned the validity of the minister’s degree, prompting Chaudhary to challenge him to prove the allegations or resign.
The opposition raised concerns that PACS was using moisture as an excuse to avoid purchasing rice from farmers. With the deadline for rice procurement fast approaching, the government has fallen significantly short of its purchasing targets. In response to these allegations, Minister Chaudhary took a jab at the RJD, referencing their governance period.
MLC Sunil Singh asserted that he could reveal the truth behind the minister’s degree, claiming he knows how fake degrees are obtained. This remark angered Chaudhary, who retorted that Kumar should prove his degree is fraudulent, or the accusers should resign from the council. The escalating personal attacks prompted the chairman to intervene, advising both parties to maintain decorum and ordering the removal of contentious remarks from the official records.
This is not the first instance of conflict between RJD’s Sunil Singh and Minister Ashok Chaudhary in the council. On February 10, their argument had escalated to the point where inappropriate language was used, leading to uproar from opposition members.
In light of the tense situation, the chairman expelled opposition members for a day. After the session, RJD MLC Sunil Singh criticized Chaudhary, stating that even a roadside performer would not act as he did. He emphasized that had the microphone been on, the audience would have heard the inappropriate language used during the exchange.
