Pune, February 17: Political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla has fired back at former Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu regarding her remarks about Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. He questioned, “If both husband and wife are not aligned with the BJP, what can we expect from Congress?”

In a conversation, Poonawalla referred to the couple as “Bunty-Babli,” highlighting that Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife did not align with the BJP, despite the party providing them with significant opportunities. He criticized Kaur’s choice of words, suggesting that she should refrain from using such language. “Congress has given her so much respect. Using such terms against the leader of the opposition reflects poorly on her culture. I reiterate that the Bunty-Babli team is recognized by everyone in the country,” he stated.

Poonawalla also addressed the issue of “Vande Mataram,” asserting that Congress is not against the national song. He pointed out that it was the Congress party that advocated for Vande Mataram to be recognized as a national anthem. He challenged BJP members, saying they should stand in line and recite it, as many of them do not even know the song, yet they accuse Congress.

Regarding Karnataka, Poonawalla emphasized the need for the high command to ensure that members from both factions refrain from making disparaging remarks about one another. He urged for swift decisions on necessary changes within the state.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu expressed her confusion about Rahul Gandhi, stating that he has not yet reached a level where he can engage with everyone equally and remain open to dialogue. She noted that he still appears tied to the Gandhi family’s mindset, lacking the time to listen to those who genuinely wish to guide him. “If it takes eight months to meet someone, I believe that is unacceptable,” she concluded.
