Kolkata, March 21: Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, has launched a fierce attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. He claims that Hindus in West Bengal are suffering. According to him, there are frequent attacks on the Hindu community and its saints. He also accused the government and police of providing protection to individuals from other communities.
While speaking to reporters, Adhikari stated, “We are Hindus and followers of Sanatan Dharma. Those who work for the interests of Hindus will govern Bengal in the future. The condition of Hindus here is not good. They are being oppressed. It is the government’s responsibility to protect the Hindu community, but it is failing to do so.”
He further remarked, “The Hindus of Bengal are victims. Even as a Hindu, the Chief Minister is protecting people from other religions. She engages in appeasement politics.”
The BJP leader alleged that idols of Goddess Durga are vandalized and temples are destroyed in Bengal. He mentioned that there are attacks on the Hindu community and its saints. “The government and police are complicit in these atrocities. Riots have been instigated in several areas while the police remained silent. A state minister even stated that people from another community might cause disturbances on Friday. Therefore, I prayed to Goddess Kali, Baba Mahadev, and Lord Jagannath to keep the Hindu tribal community in Bengal happy and safe,” he added.
Earlier, during his election campaign, Suvendu Adhikari offered prayers at the Kalighat temple on Saturday. He also performed the abhishekam and worship of Bhairav Baba Nakuleshwar.
He posted on the social media platform ‘X’, “On the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri, after worshiping at the Kalighat temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, I performed the abhishekam and worship of Bhairav Baba Nakuleshwar. I sought blessings and prayed that the Mother of the Universe and Baba Nakuleshwar be pleased, fulfill the wishes of their devotees, and bring happiness and prosperity into their lives.”
