Supreme Court Orders Fresh Elections for Patiala Municipal Corporation Wards 15 and 58
The Supreme Court has mandated fresh elections for Patialas Wards 15 and 58, while rejecting calls for elections in two other wards.

Patiala, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The Supreme Court has made a significant ruling regarding the Patiala Municipal Corporation elections, ordering fresh elections for Wards 15 and 58. This decision comes as an amendment to its previous order issued on September 28, 2026, which now includes these two wards in the election re-run mandate.
During the hearing on October 16, 2026, the Court clarified that elections for these specific wards would be conducted anew. This ruling followed arguments presented by senior counsel representing the Punjab government.
However, the Court rejected a request to include Wards 10 and 11 of the Dharmkot Municipal Council in the re-election process. The Supreme Court stated that it fully accepted the report from Justice Nirmaljeet Kaur, which did not encompass these wards. Consequently, the request for re-elections in Dharmkot was denied.
This case pertains to the matter of Navdeep Kaur and others versus Gurmeet Singh and others. The Supreme Court’s revised order clears the way for new elections in Patiala’s Wards 15 and 58, while the appeal concerning Dharmkot’s wards has been dismissed.
