Sukanta Majumdar Accuses TMC of Inciting Attacks on Election Officials

Kolkata: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar has raised serious allegations against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) amid escalating political tensions in West Bengal. Majumdar claimed that the TMC’s fear of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has reached a dangerous level.

He accused the TMC of giving free rein to antisocial elements and criminal gangs across the state in a state of political panic. According to Majumdar, these groups are being used to intimidate and attack officials of the Election Commission of India, which he described as a deeply troubling sign for democracy.

Sharing a video on the social media platform X showing an attack on an Election Commission employee, the BJP leader questioned the TMC’s role in these incidents. In his post, Majumdar wrote that in desperation, the TMC has encouraged antisocial and criminal groups statewide to harass and assault Election Commission officials. Disturbing incidents reported from multiple districts of West Bengal clearly indicate that the TMC is in panic. This fear has pushed the party to a dangerous and low level.

He strongly condemned the physical targeting of a constitutional authority’s personnel under the misguided belief that democracy can be derailed through intimidation and terror. Majumdar warned that such lawlessness will not be tolerated.

Majumdar further stated that any attempt to hold democracy hostage through violence and criminal intimidation is against the Constitution and rule of law. He expressed confidence that the people of West Bengal will oppose this attack on democratic values and asserted that upholding the Constitution, democratic institutions, and legal processes is essential.

“The people of West Bengal will stand against this assault on democratic principles,” he added.
