The department has taken immediate action after taking cognizance of the incident. A high-level investigation is also ongoing. Acting Assistant Engineer Hem Singh has been suspended until the completion of the inquiry, while the contractual Civil Consultant at the Block Level Integrated Education Complex, Kotda District Udaipur, has been directed to have their contractual services terminated with immediate effect due to negligence in government work. Additionally, instructions have been given to register a First Information Report and initiate police action against the contractor firm, M/s Divyanshi Enterprises, for negligence in the approved construction work carried out by the contractor.
Regarding the incident, an official from the department stated that the collapse of the under-construction school’s canopy led to the death of a girl passing by the building and injury to another girl. Both are not students of the school. The school is not being operated in the under-construction building; it is being run elsewhere. The accident occurred not due to poor quality but because of the contractor’s negligence.
