
Singapore, May 30: India’s Defense Secretary, Rajesh Kumar Singh, met with Dutch Defense Chief, Ono Eichelsheim, on Saturday. This meeting took place during the second day of the three-day Shangri-La Dialogue.
The Ministry of Defense announced on social media platform X that the discussions focused on various measures to enhance defense cooperation between India and the Netherlands. Both parties explored opportunities for collaboration through military exchange programs and bilateral training exercises.
The talks emphasized deepening partnerships in the defense sector and promoting coordination and capacity building between the armed forces of both nations.
Earlier, Rajesh Kumar Singh also engaged in discussions with Belen Martinez Cornubet, Secretary-General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), and Lieutenant General Enrico Barduani, Vice Chairman of the European Union Military Committee.
The Ministry of Defense reported that this meeting advanced the strategic dialogue between India and the European Union. The discussions included shared security interests and opportunities to deepen defense and strategic cooperation. Both sides stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration in the regional and global security landscape.
On May 29, Singh met with Admiral Giuseppe Cavò Dragone, Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee, and Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. They discussed enhancing military cooperation, strengthening strategic dialogue, and addressing new security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Shangri-La Dialogue, held in Singapore, features defense ministers, military leaders, and policymakers from various countries. It includes extensive discussion sessions and bilateral meetings among representatives from different nations. Policymakers from the Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and other regions discuss regional security issues and strategies to address them.
The Shangri-La Dialogue is Asia’s premier defense and security summit, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in Singapore. It is also referred to as the “Asia Security Summit.”
During the Shangri-La Dialogue, Rajesh Kumar Singh engaged with several prominent think tanks and academic experts. The discussions focused on strengthening the Indo-Pacific security framework, enhancing collaboration in the defense industry, and partnerships in new technologies.
